Why this exists
A $500 job is never $500 in your hand. The platform takes its fee, and then withdrawing and converting to your own currency take a little more. The rules are spread across help pages, they change often, and they aren't the same in every country. Upwork's fee has varied by contract since May 2025. Payoneer to bKash costs 3% plus $1. Upwork's ACH withdrawals cost non-US freelancers $2.99 but are free in the US.
Most fee calculators are built for US freelancers. TakeHome also covers the payout routes that freelancers in Bangladesh, Pakistan and the Philippines actually use.
How we check the numbers
- Every calculator shows the date its fees were last checked.
- We start from official sources, such as the Upwork Help Center and bKash's Payoneer service page, and confirm against what freelancers see in their own accounts.
- When sources disagree, we say so on the page and let you enter the exact figure you see.
- The math runs in your browser, and you can see every step of it in the breakdown.
Independent
TakeHome isn't affiliated with Upwork, Fiverr, Payoneer, bKash or any other company mentioned on the site, and nobody pays to change the results. If we ever add referral links, they'll be clearly labelled and won't affect the numbers.
Who builds it
TakeHome is built and maintained by an independent web developer who works alongside freelancers and got tired of working these numbers out by hand.
